During winter break, dad took off a day to do some type of outing. We couldn't think of anything on this rainy Thursday. Then we remembered the "Mystery Spot" just outside of Santa Cruz, deep in the forest. We tried to explain it to the kids but they thought we were just crazy. M just shook her head. We had lunch first at the wharf in SC. MMM! fish and chips! I'm so glad all the kids like fish. After lunch we had some of Marianne's Ice Cream (a local favorite) and took in the free entertainment aka-napping sea lions. When we reached our destination, fire engines and a ambulance pulled up after us. Apparently some lady lost her balance, fell and hit her head. She was fine!! But our kids were really wondering where we had taken them. We waited for our guided tour in the corny gift shop. They had everything from edible chocolate crickets to souvenier magnets of every size. The announcement for our tour saved us from making a purchase. The kids enjoyed all the "parlor tricks" of the mystery shack and it was really hard not to get dizzy. really. The whole experience was fun and different...especially with the fire engine!
