The Birthday That Didn't Sink.

After weeks of bribing, threatening and begging, I finally gave in to the wishes of a ten year old. I had no idea how I was going incorporate my daughter's idea of a "Titanic" themed birthday. A few searches and wha la, unsinkable cupcakes. The stormy weather felt like we were floating away, but 30 people managed to stay calm and squeeze indoors for dinner. There were no "carving stations" or ice sculptures to be seen, but we did enjoy some "ocean punch" and lifesavers. A few of her friends spent the night, ate continously and played truth or dare. I pretended not to listen in, but I couldn't avoid seeing my daughter streak thru the house on a dare in her underwear. (the other girls knew better!)The morning came too early for me but I managed to flip pancakes and fill the starving children. Later, one by one, they pouted as their parents came to take them home. At least they smiled one last time as they received their blue "diamond" heart to remember their voyage. And I went upstairs to take a long nap.
