Mom: Ooh, Tell me the good news first.
E: The good news is Katie has a cute new haircut. She has bangs now.
Mom: So what's the bad news?
E: The bad news is Carmella gave her the haircut.

Carnival...PV Style
This past friday afternoon was crazy! Our school carnival gets bigger and bigger each year. It's no doubt that the wonderful Tri-tip sandwiches on artisian french bread smothered in garlic butter and topped with a homemade salsa calls people in from the surrounding neighborhoods like zombies. I don't know what was better the smokey smell from the huge bbqs or the sweet sugar smell from the cotton candy machine. The Home and School club worked really hard to organize all the booths and volunteers. Lots of 6th graders helped work to earn Science Camp money too. We had an old-fashioned cake walk, face painting, crafts, jump house and a silent auction. My brother brought down my grandpa's old ice shaver and made over 350 snow cones! Another parent with carnival connections had a cotton candy machine and a 50ft line of people from 4pm -8pm. She could not make it fast enough. It was a long hard day, but we sure had fun!
County Fair Fieldtrip

E went on her first field trip of the year. I love 2nd grade! This year will be filled with lots of field trips. This begins their study of our local community. They will be holding a classroom fair at the end of the month. E has already asked me to make one of my huge apple pies for their contest. This county fair in Watsonville is so small town and cute. If you have read my previous blogs you know what a fan I am of county fairs, especially the San Benito County Fair coming this October. They had lots of fun cranking the grain mill and petting all the animals. The kids loved doing the pottery the most. And the day ended with everyone picking out a treat to eat. Mmm. Caramel apples and pink popcorn.

Monday's Conversation
E: Mom, my teacher was talking about getting a dog. I can't remember the name of it, but it works with your eyes. It can see thru them.
Mom: What? I have no idea what it's called.
E:It's the kind that help people you know.
Mom:Oh, do you mean a "Seeing-Eye-Dog"?
E: Yeah, yeah that's what they're called. She's going to get one.
Mom: Oh, how nice. That's the type of dog that they help train to help blind people. Once they are trained she will give it to a blind person who needs it.
E: Mrs. Reed has glasses so she can keep it.
Mom: No, Emmy. She has to be blind.
S: Well then Dad can keep it, 'cause he can't see anything without his glasses.
Mom: No. your Dad can see.
E: No Mom. He's blind without them. I know it.
Well according to the kids we should be getting another dog soon.

What this week looks like.
Faucet leaks
Roof seeps
Doorbell always calling...
Dog barks
Kids shout
Something's always falling...
Burnt trout
Plumber's out
Cat's shredded the awning...
Phone rings
Kettle sings
Is the freezer thawing?...
Floors weak
Doors antique
Tomorrow's chaos budding...
Oh please
God bless this home
as much as possible!!!
